Lets Take A Walk…

Lets Take A Walk
Which is something I’ve been doing a lot of lately.

And every time I go for a walk I get asked the same question.

“Hey, why are you always walking…”

So I’ve decided to finally answer this question as to why I’m always walking to my destination or anywhere for that matter.

Just a little brief for you real quick, I’ve been walking to the places I’ve wanted to go to since I was about 15 years old.

So I’m no stranger when it comes to walking.

Sad to say at those times I actually hated walking anywhere, I mean when you have some cool parents shouldn’t they at least offer to help?

I mean I would ask for a ride but then be told to find my own way…but when someone else asks for a ride they would gladly give it to them.

Anyways I’m getting off topic here.

But as I continued to get older, around the age of 17 that is really all I ever did.

Walk better yet march since I joined the military.

Not to go to far back into the past but I was always told to

“Find your own way to get there…”

So thats what I’ve been doing for as long as I can remember.

And I began to realize some things about not only myself but about other people as well.

You see a lot of people and you are probably one of them just love to make excuses…

Seriously, be honest here you know you do.

Look I don’t have a car YET (will be getting one soon)

But I don’t use that as an excuse to not get from Point A to Point B

Which brings me back to walking and why I’m always walking from Point A to Point B. So here are two reasons why I actually walk to my destination.

1. I actually enjoy walking

As crazy as that may sound  but walking especially when its like 5 A.M. its nice and quiet. You can walk around no dogs barking, no birds chirping, barely any cars on the roads.

Its just Nature and myself.

During my walks I get plenty of time to ponder and think about things. Like how to create the next best version of myself.

The point of living is to grow yourself internally and watch it happen externally as a result.

I even go as far as to listen to some audio books or other types of music. And based on what I can see happening, my taste in music has shifted a lot. There are two songs I always play when I’m walking anywhere. Both by the same artist.

Play both of these while walking, I’m guaranteed to think of something that I can do that can possibly help me grow as a person. Become the next best version of me.

2. I have legs

As crazy or as simple as that reason is. It is the truth after all. Think about it, what happens when you stop using a muscle? It gets weaker right? I don’t know about you but I don’t want to have weak muscles. I want to actually be able to walk anywhere I want when I’m like 70+ years old without the use of a walker. I want to actually be able to go from sitting to standing without having to put my hands on the seat to help lift myself up.

Bonus Reason Why I Walk

As you can see, just by reading this blog post I enjoy walking. But here is a little bonus for you. I don’t have to rely on anyone to get from Point A to Point B. Remember how I said some people would make an excuse, well its true because I hear it all the time.

Examples:

A. I’m hungry and I want to get McDonalds…
B. Why don’t you go?
A. I don’t feel like walking…

That is just one example, makes you wonder why someone wouldn’t walk to their destination. I am starting to think people are taking what they already have for granted.

Take away a car  give them a bike will they use it?

Take away the bike give them a scooter will they use it?

Take away the scooter and give them a skateboard will they use it?

Take away the skateboard and leave them with their legs will they use them?

Take away their legs ….then what?

People live their lives everyday and completely forget to give thanks and be grateful for the things they have already.

Be grateful for what you have, and be grateful for what you don’t have as well.

I’ll leave you with this video, from someone who I’m grateful for just listening to speak on video.
